The person your garment goes to
Every alteration that comes through the door passes our head of alterations. He has spent thirty years at the machine, and he sets the standard the rest of the bench works to.
When a jacket needs opening at the shoulder, or a lining has to come out and go back in, he is the one who decides how it is done. The tailors working alongside him do so under his guidance. He checks the fitting, he checks the finish, and if it is not right it goes back on the machine before it comes back to you.
That is why we ask you to come in rather than guess from a size label. A fitting takes a few minutes, and it is the difference between a garment that has been shortened and a garment that fits.

We fit you in person
Nothing is guessed from a size label. You put the garment on, we pin it on you in the fitting room, and we mark exactly where it needs to sit. That is the part most places skip, and it is the part that decides whether the finished garment feels right.
The work is done here
Your garment is altered on the machines you can see through the window, by the person who took your fitting. It is not bagged up and sent to a unit somewhere else, so if something needs adjusting again we still have the garment and the notes.
We work with how the garment is made
A lined jacket, a bias cut dress and a pair of jeans all need different handling. We look at the seams, the lining and the fabric before we start, and we finish the hem in the way that garment was built to be finished.
Three decades at the machine
The tailor who alters your garment has been doing this work for thirty years. That is the difference between someone who can sew and someone who has already met the problem your garment is about to present. Wedding dresses, work suits, school uniform, leather. Very little comes through the door that he has not handled before.

We quote you at the counter, before any work begins. Our standard prices are published on this website so you can see what most jobs cost before you even walk in.
We would rather repair it
A split seam, a broken zip or a worn cuff does not mean the end of a garment you like. Bring it in and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth mending, and what it will take.

Renew has been caring for clothes for more than 12 years, beginning in India. Our first London shop opened six years ago and the Nine Elms shop three years ago. Alterations are everyday work here: hems, waists, tapering, zips and repairs across trousers, dresses, jackets and shirts, for customers across Nine Elms, Battersea, Vauxhall and the wider SW8 and SW11 area.
A good alteration should feel natural when you wear it. We look at how a garment is made and how it sits on you before deciding the best way to adjust it, so it keeps its character and simply works better.
