The short version
This website does not store anything you type into it. The enquiry form opens WhatsApp on your own device with a message already written, and you decide whether to send it. In the shop we write down your name, a phone number and what needs doing, because that is how we find your garment again and tell you when it is ready. We do not sell your details to anyone.
Who we are
Renew Alterations and Repairs, part of Renew Drycleaners, 7 Cellini Street, Nine Elms, London SW8 2FQ. If you want to talk to us about anything on this page, email renew@alterationsandrepairs.com, call 07360 690589 or come into the shop.
What we collect on this website
Very little. There is no account to create, no newsletter sign up and no database behind this site.
- The enquiry form. When you fill it in and press the button, nothing is sent to us or saved on this website. Your browser opens WhatsApp with the message already written out. Only when you press send in WhatsApp does it reach us, and at that point WhatsApp is carrying it, in the same way it would carry any other message you send.
- Cookies and advertising. We use a Google Ads tag so we can see whether our advertising is working. Advertising and analytics cookies are switched off until you accept them on the banner. If you decline, or ignore the banner, they stay off. You can change your mind by clearing this site from your browser settings.
- Your web host. Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs that include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. We do not use those logs for marketing.
What we collect in the shop
When you leave a garment with us we write down your name, a contact number, the garment and what needs doing. Sometimes we note a measurement. That goes on a ticket and into our shop system so we can match the right garment to the right person and let you know when it is ready.
We keep those records for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet our accounting obligations. We do not use them to send you marketing unless you have asked us to.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your details, and we do not pass them to anyone for their own marketing. The only organisations involved are the ones that make the service work: WhatsApp, which carries your messages; Google, which provides the advertising tag; and our web host. Each has its own privacy terms.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and in most cases ask us to delete it. Email or call us and we will deal with it. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Our terms
These are the everyday terms we work to. They are not meant to be complicated.
- Quotes. We quote you at the counter before we start. Our published prices are the usual starting points for standard work. Anything unusual, heavily beaded, leather, or a garment that needs taking apart may cost more, and we will tell you before we begin.
- Fittings. For alterations we ask you to come in so we can fit the garment on you. We cannot do this accurately from a size label or a photograph.
- Timing. We agree a collection time with you when we take the garment in. How long it takes depends on the work and how busy we are, so we will not promise a time before we have seen the garment.
- Alterations cannot always be undone. Cutting and hemming are permanent. Where fabric has been removed, it cannot be put back. We will always talk this through with you first if it matters.
- Older and delicate garments. We take care, but some fabrics are fragile, and existing damage, previous repairs or perished stitching can become apparent during work. Where we can see a risk we will point it out before starting.
- If something is not right. Bring it back to us. We would much rather look at it and put it right than have you unhappy with the fit.
- Uncollected garments. Please collect your garment within a reasonable time. We have limited space, and we will contact you on the number you gave us before we do anything with items left for a long period.
- Payment. Payment is taken in the shop. We will tell you at the counter which methods we take.
Changes to this page
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
A note on this page. This is a plain English summary of how we actually operate, written so it is easy to read. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a solicitor reviewing your position. If you need certainty on a specific point, please take proper advice.
